Understanding the benefits of cavitation treatments
2 August 2024 · Natasha Coutts

Ultrasonic cavitation is a non-invasive body treatment designed to reduce the appearance of localised, stubborn pockets of fat — the stomach, flanks, thighs and upper arms are the most commonly treated areas. It is not a weight-loss treatment, and it is not a substitute for one.
The treatment uses low-frequency ultrasound waves to encourage fat cells in the treatment area to release their contents, which the body then processes naturally through the lymphatic system. Because the process is gradual, results build over a course of sessions rather than appearing overnight.
Cavitation tends to suit clients who are already close to their target shape and want to refine a specific area that has not responded to diet and exercise. It does not suit everyone: there are health conditions, medications and lifestyle factors that make it unsuitable, which is why a proper consultation and medical questionnaire happen before your first session.
Because the body has to process what cavitation releases, hydration, gentle movement and a balanced diet during a course help the treatment do its job. Sessions are usually spaced around a week apart, often combined with radio frequency for skin firming, and finished with a maintenance plan discussed after your course.
Cavitation should always be delivered by a trained practitioner in an appropriate setting. If it isn't the right treatment for you, Natasha will explain why and — where relevant — suggest an alternative.
